State Epidemiologist, Raoult Ratard MD. MPH., reports to the office of the State Veterinarian that:
"During the past week, 1 blue jay in Lafayette, 1 black bird (no further specification) in
West Monroe and 1 sparrow in Alexandria. Positive by VecTest and verified by PCR
(identified the viral nucleic acid). It is starting early this year."
